If you’re exploring Cochlear Implants but are unsure of how it works, where you should go or what surgical consultant that you should use, then this article is for you.
Our mission for the past 17 years has been to deliver exceptional care and solutions for better hearing to the people of West Texas.
This means that when we wanted to partner with surgical consultants for cochlear implants we were incredibly picky about who we referred to.
It’s a decision that required us to consider not only the surgeon, but also their philosophies of patient care as well as the facilities and processes that we are recommending for our patients who are like family to us.
We wanted a red-carpet, VIP treatment just like we offer all of our patients, but especially when we are recommending a surgical solution for hearing loss. In short, we wanted to refer to surgeons we can trust 100% with the care of our beloved Cornerstone family so that we may have peace of mind, knowing they are in good hands, receiving the best care possible.
Betty Visits Jed Grisel, MD
Recently, we received a phone call from a lady named Teresa.
Teresa stated that her mom, Betty, was coming to visit her from Kansas and she wanted to schedule a hearing consultation for her because Betty has been really struggling understanding conversations, even with her hearing aids.
Betty was scheduled for a comprehensive hearing evaluation, and it was determined that she required more than a hearing aid could provide, and was a candidate for a cochlear implant.
Following Betty’s cochlear implant recommendation, Courtney Arnold, Au.D. – our cochlear implant audiologist – typed up a candidacy report and Betty was sent to see Jed Grisel, MD in Wichita Falls, Texas for a surgical consult.
Dr. Grisel and his team implanted Betty and she was sent back to Lubbock a few weeks later for her activation. The communication with Dr. Grisel and his team was impressive as both sides (surgical and our audiological team) advocated for Betty and her success with her new found hearing.
This led to phone calls and a visit to Wichita Falls by Dr. Arnold and the owner of Cornerstone Audiology, Julie Hubik in order to lay eyes on the facility and meet the implant team in person. In short, we were very impressed with the entire team and process that Dr. Grisel suggested. Not only does he align with our patient care values, but an experience has been created where you only need to travel to Wichita Falls for one visit for your implant surgery. Your loved one is able to stay on site after surgery in order to be close to the patient while you are there.
We are big fans of Dr. Grisel and his team and feel very confident to refer our patients to Wichita Falls for surgery.
Shelly Meets Jackson Jordan, MD
Jackson Jordan, based in Abilene, is another of our trusted cochlear implant surgeons that we have built a long-standing relationship with. From the beginning of our pursuit to find a surgeon, Dr. Jordan has been kind, down to earth and excited to partner with our team.
Many patients in our office, including Shelly who have pursued surgery from Dr. Jordan sing his praises and are so grateful for his skill and care for them as they are now hearing better than they could have ever hoped. Shelly couldn’t say enough about the kindness Dr. Jordan showed her and her family. He did a great job of giving reasonable expectations to Shelly which set her mind on a path to success.
Our patients who have been to Abilene have had nothing but positive things to say regarding their experience with Dr. Jordan.
What does this Mean for You?
It is essential that our team feels comfortable with the surgical strategies as well as the care you will receive while pursuing a surgical solution for hearing loss.
Not all surgeons are equal, and after many years of finding the right partners who deliver the same patient-centric beliefs as us, we’re delighted to partner with two incredible Cochlear Implant surgeons in West Texas.
