Statistics around hearing loss are worsening, showing more than 50% of US adults 60 years or older having significant hearing loss, and this expecting to increase to 73 million people by 2060. Hearing loss is also associated with accelerated cognitive decline, incident dementia, falls and depressive symptoms (JAMA 2019).
As a medical professional who treats patients in West Texas, we want to partner with you to care for the hearing health of our community. With the influence you have in the lives of those you serve, we want to encourage you to include a baseline hearing check-up after the age of 60 among all of your patients.
