Which Hearing Aid Is Right For Me? Choosing Between Starkey, ReSound, Oticon, And Phonak

06/15/2021 | Hearing Aids, Hearing Loss, Patient Resources, Technology

Getting the perfect hearing aid is a big deal!

With so many different hearing aid models, manufacturers, and hearing healthcare clinics to choose from, purchasing hearing aids is not just a one-step process.

In fact, there are a range of steps you must go through to make sure you are achieving the best possible outcome.

With choosing which hearing aids to purchase often the first hurdle, we are often asked, “What hearing aids are the best?”

However, just like any type of device, the answer is not that simple.

In this article, my goal is to make you aware of all the options available and better understand which hearing aids are right for you.

While your head may be in a spin and running around in circles, there is no one else better than the knowledge and expertise of an audiologist who has trained for many years.

So, you’re in the right place!

Which Hearing Aid Manufacturer Do I Go With?

Perhaps your friend has a pair of ReSound hearing aids and she says they’re great, or maybe your mother-in-law has raved about Phonak and their Bluetooth connectivity.

Whatever device you may have come across, the reason you are here is because you have a hearing loss and want to do something about it.

The most important thing to note is that while your friend may also share a similarity with a difficulty to hear, your hearing is so unique to you and it is very rare to match two people with the same requirements.

While one brand of hearing manufacturer may offer a range of impressive functions, another may be focused on the high-quality sound which aims to medically treat your hearing loss.

In our opinion, there are four key manufacturers which have made a name for themselves and there is a reason why so many people trust them.

As we care so much about providing only the best hearing healthcare in the region, we work with only reputable companies such as ReSound, Sonic, and Starkey.

Having watched them for a while, they have shown to exceed the expectations of many users and allow many patients to have incredible hearing breakthroughs.

How Important Is Your Lifestyle, Style, And Budget When Making Your Decision?

When it comes down to choosing which device is right for you, there are a lot factors to consider ahead of making your decision.

You wouldn’t borrow someone else’s glasses, as they wouldn’t be prescribed to your eyesight, so why do the same for your hearing?

With hearing so unique to the individual, the degree of your hearing loss allows us to identify which hearing device would be best suited to your needs.

For example, you may suffer from tinnitus and require a device which helps to mask the ringing in your ears.

The level of hearing loss you suffer with, such as mild-to-moderate or severe-to-profound, helps us to work out which device would be able to address your hearing loss.

Additionally, your input is required, as you may have a preference over which device you like best, i.e., behind-the-ear or invisible.

Some patients are looking for a device which not only helps them to hear but can also connect to their phone or TV. Whereas others are purely focused on the sound capability.

It’s completely down to you.

Deciding Which Device Is The Best Fit

By now, you’ll understand that there is no “one-size-fits-all” hearing aid device, as it all depends on a patient’s unique circumstances.

While the internet is a great place to start, including reviews and information about most of the manufacturers in the market, sometimes it’s better to have a one-on-one chat with a medical professional.

Having cared for the hearing health of thousands of people in Western Texas, the good news is that we have dealt with hearing aids in all shapes and sizes.

Maybe your friend has recommended a ReSound device and you want to know more about its capabilities, or perhaps you are intrigued on finding a device which masks your tinnitus.

Whatever your interests, we can find a device for you.

If you are located in West Texas and you are looking for an experienced team of hearing care specialists, then we would be more than happy to help to guide you with the next steps.
