4th-Year Audiology Externship

You only get one fourth-year externship.

Our hope is that wherever you spend your final year, you'll graduate feeling confident—not only in your clinical skills, but in your ability to care for people, build relationships, and make a real difference in the lives of your patients.

At Cornerstone Audiology, we believe hearing healthcare is about so much more than hearing aids and hearing tests. It's about serving people well, doing the right thing every time, and creating an experience that patients can't imagine receiving anywhere else.

If you're looking for an externship where you'll be challenged, encouraged, mentored, and treated like a valued member of the team from your very first day, we'd love to meet you.

Who We're Looking For

Your grades, clinical hours, and academic accomplishments are important—but they only tell part of the story.

We're looking for someone who genuinely loves people.

Someone who is excited to learn.

Someone who is humble enough to accept feedback and confident enough to keep growing.

Someone who believes that every patient deserves to feel heard, respected, and cared for.

If your classmates and professors describe you as someone who:

  • Brings a positive attitude wherever you go.

  • Makes people feel comfortable within minutes of meeting you.

  • Has a heart for serving others, especially older adults.

  • Pays attention to the details because you know they matter.

  • Takes ownership, works hard, and looks for solutions instead of excuses.

  • Enjoys being part of a team and celebrates the success of others.

  • Is dependable, prepared, and willing to do whatever needs to be done.

  • Is coachable and always looking for ways to improve.

...then you'll probably feel right at home here.

These are the same qualities you'll find in every member of our team.

What You'll Experience

Our goal isn't simply to help you complete your externship requirements.

Our goal is to help prepare you for the career ahead.

Throughout your year at Cornerstone Audiology, you'll gain hands-on experience in every aspect of private practice audiology, including:

  • Comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for patients of all ages

  • Hearing aid evaluations, fittings, programming, verification, and follow-up care using the latest daily wear technology from multiple manufacturers including Lyric

  • Counseling patients and their families with confidence and compassion

  • Tinnitus evaluations and treatment, including Lenire

  • Cochlear implant evaluations and follow-up care

  • Cerumen management and hearing aid troubleshooting

  • Collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals

  • Participating in team meetings where your thoughts and ideas are welcomed

  • Learning how an exceptional private practice operates—from patient experience to leadership, marketing, and practice growth

You'll be given opportunities to learn, ask questions, and gradually take on more responsibility as your skills and confidence grow.

We don't expect you to know everything.

We do expect you to be curious, engaged, and willing to learn.

What You'll Receive

As an extern at Cornerstone Audiology, you'll receive:

  • Meaningful, hands-on clinical experience—not just observation hours.

  • One-on-one mentorship from experienced audiologists who are invested in your success.

  • A paid stipend throughout your externship.

  • Opportunities to attend continuing education and professional development when available.

  • A welcoming team that values your ideas and wants you to succeed.

  • Consideration for a full-time position after graduation if it's the right fit for both of us.

A Final Thought

Choosing an externship is one of the most important decisions you'll make during your audiology training.

You're not just choosing where you'll spend your final year.

You're choosing the mentors who will help shape the kind of audiologist you become.

If you're looking for an externship where you'll be encouraged, challenged, supported, and surrounded by people who genuinely love what they do, we'd love the opportunity to get to know you.

We look forward to hearing your story.

Please send your résumé, your university and anticipated externship dates, along with a brief note telling us why you're interested in Cornerstone Audiology.

We can't wait to meet you.
