How Long Does a Hearing Test Take?
For a new patient, we allow an hour and fifteen minutes for the initial appointment. During this time, our doctors get to know you by asking questions to understand your unique hearing situations and needs.
How Does a Hearing Test Work
Our audiologists begin by performing otoscopy (visual inspection of the outer ear and eardrum), and tympanometry (test to assess middle ear space). Pure tone audiometry is also performed to find a threshold at multiple frequencies. Word understanding testing helps us to determine the patient’s ability to process speech at different loudness levels.
Does a hearing test hurt?
No. it doesn't.
What's the investment for a hearing test?
Most insurances pay for one hearing test per year. We also offer reduced cost diagnostic hearing tests for those without insurance.
What happens at the end of a hearing test?
After a hearing test is finished, the audiologist will explain the results to the patient and discuss potential solutions if there is a hearing loss.
