During Hearing Health Awareness Month, the team has been spreading the word throughout Lubbock, Big Spring, and Snyder about the fantastic hearing loss treatments available today.

But crucially, our doctors of audiology can only assist those who ask for their help.

John Hopkins University has shown that roughly 44 million Americans have some form of a hearing loss currently, with numbers set to double by 2060.

Unfortunately, many of those will wait between seven and ten years before seeking any form of professional assistance.

These are some of the key reasons why it takes so long for someone to begin their journey to better hearing.

But I can still hear?

It’s rare for a hearing loss to arrive suddenly; instead, it often arises over several years, emerging little by little.

Those who are in the early stages usually cannot detect a difference. And as their hearing loss progresses, they simply learn to cope with the symptoms.

Patients also believe that if they can hear some sounds, their hearing is probably adequate.

But as your hearing decreases over a number of years, it becomes harder and harder to treat, with long-term neurological consequences.

Only a specialist can clearly detect a hearing loss. And the sooner they diagnose a condition, the more they can do to preserve this vital sense.

Have You Noticed Some Difficulties With Your Hearing Lately?

How will it affect me?

Beyond the physical symptoms, patients often worry about how their life will change if they receive a hearing loss diagnosis.

This relates to the historic stigma surrounding conditions, and the assumption that hearing aids will make someone look older, especially in the eyes of friends and colleagues.

In reality, both of these concerns are unfounded.

Today, a range of celebrities and public figures – from Robert Redford to Barbra Streisand – have discussed their conditions, dispelling myths about hearing care in the process.

Additionally, hearing aids are now sleek, discreet, and packed full of amazing technology. If you’re a candidate for these incredible devices, you won’t believe how beneficial they can be.

Treatment is expensive, right?

Before someone speaks to a doctor of audiology, their first thought is often, “But how much will I have to invest?”

It’s a common fear for many that, once they begin to treat their hearing, they’ll be asked for a large contribution – like many other specialized services.

But over the last ten to fifteen years, the investment you need to find amazing results has dropped dramatically.

In addition, more and more insurance companies now cover part or all of the cost of hearing treatment, making superb care accessible to everyone.

Every member of the team will work hard to meet your financial needs completely.
