Why Cornerstone Audiology Is Prepared For Whatever Happens Next | Our Big Lessons From COVID And Our Long-Term Promise To You

06/28/2021 | Hearing Loss, Patient Resources

When it comes to your hearing… pandemic or no pandemic, in order to achieve the most effective results, it will always require a great relationship with your hearing care provider.

To stay up to date with the latest CDC government guidelines in your county, please use the CDC tool below.

Despite all the twists and turns that happen in our world, you need to have confidence in the provider you choose… they should always be there.

The problem is, in today’s world, it is more difficult than ever to enter a long-term relationship with a small business.

∙ If you watch the news, you’ll hear about the droves of small businesses that are closing due to COVID.

∙ If you travel to any once bustling street in Lubbock or Snyder, you’ll see many small businesses that didn’t make it. In fact, the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce reported that over 210 local businesses have closed since March of 2021 – most of which were restaurants.

∙ And if you read the latest report by YELP, you’ll have read that over 100,000 establishments have closed since the pandemic began.

That’s why, in this article, I want to share with you some of our biggest lessons from the pandemic and the steps we have taken to ensure that we can deliver on our long-term promises to you and the hundreds of local people that trust us for all their hearing healthcare needs.

The Lessons From The Pandemic

Before I tell you about what Cornerstone, as a hearing healthcare provider, has learned from the pandemic, I thought it would be a great opportunity to share with you some of my own personal lessons in the hope they resonate with you too…

#1 – First and foremost, I have learned that spending time with those we love is incredibly important. If you weren’t able to see loved ones during COVID, it was so sweet to be reunited when you could. In fact, to love and be loved may be the absolute sweetest part and greatest blessing on this earth.

#2 – Home is where the heart is. Enjoying the place where we live is so important. You don’t have to spend a lot of money, but doing some simple things to bring enjoyment to your home environment is so rewarding.

#3 – Staying as healthy as possible is important. Go for a walk, smell the roses, de-stress, eat healthy, and exercise. If your body is going to have a fighting chance to beat a virus, you need to make sure you are as healthy as possible.

As a business, Cornerstone Audiology has certainly learned its fair share of lessons as well:

The pandemic forced us to think on our feet, devise new ways to do things, and understand how we could provide quality care remotely.

Our curb-side service and remote audiology service proved really popular, as these allowed patients to feel both looked after and safe all from the comfort of their cars and homes.

It took a lot of work and a lot of sleepless nights, but we ensured that patients remained the core focus of every decision, and it ensured that we could continue delivering on our promises.

It also taught us a huge number of lessons and ensured that we built protocols into our business to ensure that we’re prepared for whatever happens next.

If a situation similar to the pandemic happens again – or a local stay-at-home order is ever forced upon us once again (although I’m sure you join me in hoping this will never be the case!) – we have an emergency plan that we can immediately action that includes:

∙ Implementation of stay-at-home protocols for staff; all our providers and support staff have remote computers and a web-based scheduling system

∙ Transferring business phones to our personal cell phones

∙ A home delivery service for all supplies

∙ Remote care protocols to provide counseling and adjustments

∙ Masked curb-side appointments/patient vestibule service

∙ Utilization of technology to communicate, such as our FaceTime software

These steps mean that we have plans in place and are ready to roll, no matter what is thrown at us! (Though, don’t get me wrong, we’d much prefer to see your smiley face in person.)

Looking Toward The Future

Cornerstone Audiology has always been future-focused. Planning ahead, making smart financial decisions, and protecting the future of the business as well as, of course, maintaining exceptionally high standards for our beloved patients have always remained key.

One of the ways we continue to do this is by constantly looking for better ways to provide hearing care relevant to the current world we live in by embracing new technology and implementing that technology to the needs of our patients.

With this continued pursuit for better, and by making patient preferences a priority, our promise is to be here for you for the long haul.

If you’re considering who to partner with and want to ensure that you choose somebody that has your back, both now and forever, I sincerely hope that this article supports you in your decision.
