Hearing technology is evolving as manufacturers compete to offer patients the best products. In 2020, two hearing aids have emerged as the front-runners – the Phonak Audéo Marvel and The ReSound LiNX Quattro. While both display state-of-the-art hearing technology, there are some clear differences between these leading devices. Here are some useful comparisons to help you to make the right choice.
Battery Charging Methods
One of the biggest differences between the two devices is the manner in which they charge their batteries. The Phonak Audéo Marvel has a standard socket-in-wall charging capability, which works well for those who often leave their device to power up overnight. The ReSound LiNX Quattro, however, comes with an all-new, specially designed charging case, which will easily fit in a pocket or handbag. This provides a person with at least three full charges, on-the-go, or at home, without the need to connect it to an electricity socket. This means that a wearer can leave for a weekend getaway safe in the knowledge that they have a handy, highly portable charging solution.
The Smartphone Apps
Each device comes equipped with its own smartphone app, which can be used to control sound sensitivity and monitor battery life. However, the ReSound LiNX Quattro offers slightly more advanced features, compared with the Phonak Audéo Marvel, through its noise filter function. If a wearer finds themselves in a noisy restaurant, for example, they can tap a special button that allows them to adjust the device’s output for this specific situation. The same applies to windy, outdoor settings, where wearers can alter their hearing aids so that they perform well in these conditions. Although the Phonak Audéo Marvel gives individuals the opportunity to adjust their output, it does not differentiate based on the environment.
Bluetooth Capability
As with most modern hearing aids, both the ReSound LiNK Quattro and the Phonak Audéo Marvel have Bluetooth capability. This allows wearers to stream audio directly from their smartphone or tablet through to their hearing aid. In both devices, they can use this to operate the “live assist” feature if they ever want to speak via video link with a technical expert for advice and help. However, there are small differences between how each device performs this function, which may influence someone’s decision. The Phonak Audéo Marvel uses a conventional Bluetooth frequency to transmit audio, which may cause a smartphone or tablet to heat up over time. The ReSound Linx Quattro, however, operates on a lower frequency, which stops this issue from happening and the quality of streaming phone calls and media is much clearer.
